Did you know our country’s economy went down on a critical decline lately? Many consider the March 2015 debacle worse compared to the time when the U.S. experienced the worst financial crisis in recent years, which occurred in December 2008. However, there is no need to panic, economic experts said.

According to the monthly tracker on the gross domestic product (GDP) by Macroeconomic Advisers, a private forecasting agency, the U.S. GDP went down an inflation-adjusted 1 percent in March 2015.They are calling it the largest drop since the country’s 2008 economic crisis—the time when U.S. was in the “throes of recession.”

The firm added that the U.S. monthly GDP went down by 0.4 percent in December, saw a growth of 0.1 percent in January, and surged by 0.3 percent in February before the March contraction.

But experts were adamant—there is no need to panic. According to these specialists, the key reason for these economic movements was the labor dispute seen at West Coast ports. The shrinkage in monthly GDP was due to the decline in net exports, which, in turn, was a result of the labor dispute.

“Because the decline in monthly GDP was driven by a surge in imports that was probably unrelated to current production, we are suspicious of it and believe it overstates the underlying weakness in the economy,” a representative from Macroeconomic Advisers relayed this note to their clients.

Preparing for the Uncertainties in the Future

At an age when many food items are available in 24-hour-open groceries and supermarkets, food storage may seem like a far-fetched idea. And with the impending certainty as to the future of the U.S. economy, there is no harm in making all the necessary preparations; one of these is food storage.
